I have see a couple of Jaws performance boats up close one had stress fractures all over it. The other one had big chunks of gel-coat missing from the bottom. I guess they just dont hold up to a good pounding. I have heard from other guys who say they are junk.They look like they belong back in the 1960's.

Does your boat not have a rear seat?? That cockpit looks real small. but the opening to under the bow is alot wider.

No it's not an addition to tragic recent events. I lost the boat in May 2000 - Got tossed out at 80mph in front of Cheasapeake Bay Bridge, Annapolis, MD. The boat went 7-8 miles at 50 -60 mph. and hit hit desserted beach near Bloody Point on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It was still running - dry - one hour later when Coasties found it. By the time a guy got in the shallow water to walk in to shut in down (couple hundred yard walk), it went up in flames.

Someone actually went through the trouble of "Rescueing" the Motor before I could remove the boat from the beach, Although I can't imagine it was worth much - 500+ hours - already 60 over. Carb melted and disappeared down it to intake.

Bravo Survived with only a nick (the only memento I have left). Prop didn't didn't even have a scratch........

P&D rings a bell - coulda been what I saw in OC.

- my x-demension was about 2.5" higher than stock. The bottom of the pad was in line with the center of the intake when the cavitation plate was parrallel to bottom. Had to trim way down in tight turns or prop would blow - others wise still PLENTY of bow lift. It ran faster than anything I came accross with comparable power - for 4 years. Not so many step bottoms back then. 468ci /about 470 hp, 25p mirage 5,500 rpm 80mph. Ran accross another excalibur running 600hp (Blown) with TRS and he ran same speed..........

I still think that size boat (24' X 7') is the most fun you'll ever have for the money. Your power doesn't have to be bigger than your drive can handle to go fast!! And if you've got the balls - it'll handle the rouph stuff. I used to love beating Fountains and Big Cigs in not so smooth water back then.....

My Brother has an awsome picture from the air of a Banana Boat fun run back in the early 90's. It shows the team Banana race boat leading a pack of banana's ripping along of the coast of New England somewhere. (Probably R.I.) I'll see if he can post it.

I know 1 Firefox that is stable to 82 mph.

Here's a picture of my dad's (Charlie McCarthy) race boat in '77 or '78 Benihana. This was the very first banana boat built in 1975.

Here's another of a production boat. I believe this was # 4 or # 5. This boat was used for the Powerboat Magazine sea-trial.

Hang time 27: nope no back seat, mine is all bow. 2 Seat cockpit. I'm guessing it was built as a race boat because I've not seen another 2 seater like it. I can't find any history though.:rolleyes: :(
