Keep us posted Mike....btw...what does the winner get??
:D

Hey Cessna.....what number does that 36 run?

CESSNA 04-29-2003 04:58 PM

His 36 went around 85 with the 28's and 7 lbs of boost ,this isn't ceating its here for everyone to see . he did have a very hard time until he got the 28's and the boat is very weight sensitive
at speed ,if he has 4 people in it it slows way down (5 m.p.h. )
I guess this is due to the hull ,but jeff loves his 36 ,tons of room and still fairly fast for a tank

Thanks, I have been trying to figure out what it would tkae to go 90 gps in a 33 Outlaw. My guess is about 700 per side.

It's not cheating...matter of public record now!!:D :D

Does he have stock parts (heads - cams)? I'm sure Keith picked up another 100 per side with his heads and cams.

Keith is suppose to have around 825 at 5500.

CESSNA 04-29-2003 07:27 PM

I called and he said last summer it got 785 @7lbs of boost ,he said it has canfield aluim. heads ported and polished witha crower I think he said custom cam .
Jeff loves his 36 and will get on board to p.m. you with some questions I can't answer.
Also this motor is bored to a 509 is his ?
He loves his alround boat it really runs well and is dependable
but he again stressed the 26 or 28 pitch bravo 1 .his came with 24's and went 67 new

Wow, Just read this whole thread, Good luck with the project.
My guess is low 90's ???? "92"

Allan4 04-29-2003 08:46 PM

Thanks for the info Cessna. I doubt that an extra .015" on each side of the piston (502 bored .030 over) is gonna help a whole bunch, but every little bit helps.

Sounds like he is getting alot out of those motors, sounds like a great package. I would love to hear from someone who has thrown big power at a 33 Outlaw.....

If your buddies 36 runs 85 on a gps with 785 a side, my prediction of 86.5 with 825hp may get beat by an mph or 2;)

MIKEHTMSR24 04-29-2003 08:51 PM

Keith's had 24s also and same speed 67 to 68

Kanookstr, thanks for taking the time to read and post. Thanks to all. It's been a fun post.
Tomorrow, Tomorrow

Water test #2

Things went a little better but not much. They got the speed up to 81 with the big pulleys but boost was only around 4.5 lbs. The boost should have been around 6.5 to 7.5. Keith told me the pop off valves were letting go at 4.5 lbs. and the fuel was still too fat.
The rpm got up to 5100.
I'm a little lost. On what is going on.
You have to keep reminding yourself that this was only the second water test. Keith is about to go crazy. Not having his boat and a one way 4 hour trip.
The main mechanic's mother is still in the hospital and that is not good for Keith's boat nor is it good for the mechanic. My heart goes out for him.
When I hear more I'll let you all know, Mike.
