Mika,

This thread was forever ago. I was banged on my thread for a boat wanted. This guy named Tim in the area of Sarasota Fl. has a 1986 36ft'r w/power and drives on a trailer for 15k asking. Apparently, there is no interior.
What did you think of the one you looked at? If you bought it, is it a good boat?
Thanks-Bryan

Thanks Lucky Strike,

Anyone know how they perform? Better yet, how they hold up?

Thanks-Bryan

Great boat. I throttled Gazpacho. Beat the livng heck out of it. It held up all year, couldn't hurt the boat. I went from racing a 28' Cigarette to a 30' Mirage and I became fearless. The Mirage felt like you had a lot more boat around you and it is a very well made boat. I also had a pleasure Mirage pictured below.

Lucky Strike,

Thanks for the info. I guess I need to pursue this boat a little further. One last question, how can you tell if stringers or the transom is rotted?

Best way is to have someone survey the boat. You'll probably have to get it surveyed for insurance purposes anyways. Don't get caught up in that mosh. A bad boat couldn't be cheap enough.

Lucky Strike,

Thanks for the help. In this endevor of finding a project boat, I have tried to bargain shop and cut corners where I can. For that reason, I had not even considered hiring a survey. I think that you are right, though.
These project boats (especially larger boats) can involve a ton of money.

Bryan
