Mr. D,

First gald to hear your family is OK,and truck is driveable.

To answer your questions, it depends on you insurance co. and if they let you select the body shop. If they let you select one who is friendly they will usually put the value of the replacement parts toward the "other" parts. Just have them install them and maybe a little extra upcharge and you may have a new grill.

Good luck.

Found some cool hoods:

Stulle makes a complete grill kit.

GHF-101 or GHF-104 for the hood?

Im leaning towards the head extractor style. I like the ram air but I see that getting chipped up pretty quick.

Mr. Demeanor

I'm giving you this information from 23 years of experience in dealing with insurance companies. I have a fleet of over 300 rental cars and I deal with claims adjusters every day.

Notify your insurance company and let them know that you want this accident on record only and that you are going after the truckers insurance company. If you give it to your insurance company, they are going to take your deductible out. If you have rental coverage, your company is only going to pay what you are covered for in your policy. Usually $20-30 per day. You can't rent a truck for that.

Go to the body shop that you are going to use. Get an estimate. Contact the truckers insurance company and give them the estimate and tell them to either send a check or go look at the truck. And while you're talking to them, be sure to tell them that you need a substitute vehicle while yours is down. Don't settle for a car if you need a truck. If they say no truck, just tell them that you have to have it for your work or whatever, otherwise they will have to reimburse you for the work or whatever you are going to lose.
Please feel free to pm me if you need any help.

Thanx for the info. We do need the truck. Wife is supposed to haul a horse Monday to Wisconsin and back for cash. I need to get my boat out of storage by the 19th. My truck is drivable but no pass. side mirror means no towing. I realise we got off easy and it could have been worse. I ead the thread about the racer who died. My problems seem silly.

Depends on his and your insurance. You can demand factory parts but depending on the laws of your state they may not have to give them to you. They could even write for used or total depending on their assesment rules.

Glad you guys are ok.

Jon
