Jack L: After all of the smoke cleared I believe that we finished in the middle of the pack. We knew that we were going to be a little off the pace before we even left home. Due to the snow and bad weather, we never got a chance to run the boat before Daytona, so it was still full of fuel at race time. (We filled it up for winter storage) That means that we were carrying around 80 gallons of gas that we did not need. Mother nature was another strike against us. The seas were flat the day of the race and everybody knows that a Cigarette does not run as fast as other boats in flat water. (We were praying for wind) Also, being a typically heavy Cigarette, the weight of our boat will allow us to run the Merc 525s or the Vortec engines, but we had the Merc 500's.

We wanted to run this event to give APBA a try. It had been 3 years since we had run an APBA event, so we wanted to feel out the waters again. I think that we will make some changes to the boat and run the APBA schedule this year. We had a blast in Daytona and are really looking forward to Marathon.
