This was posted on the news group rec.boats.racing.power it has some good questions that should be addressed I did not post them but my questions are the same. I would have posted under Mike A's post but can no longer access it any longer. Iam a member of APBA but not in the Offshore catagory and as a member I feel this conserns me and all fellow members of APBA.
Thanks for your time.

I am looking at this report and see a few things out of order. Could you please
respond so the membership can better understand what is going on.
First you named past association members to the Super board, Rick Sandstrom,
Mike Jones, Greg Jacobsen and a few more. You talk about the "Old Guard" but
yet you have the Old Guard in the Super Board. These are the ones you refer to
that have been operating in serect. You stated, "No one needs to look any
futher than the 2002 budget with Tremendous Waste", where in fact Mike Jones
and Greg Jacobsen were in power at the time and the report was generated based
on their performance. It was them that controlled APBA and they are on YOUR
BOARD so lets get them to respond about the waste.
Now lets get to the FACTS section in your letter. Is it not true that in your
contract with APBA there is a 3%increase each year for annual fees. You signed
it. It is in the contract, why can't they charge you for the increase?
As far as SEA-TAC, let the courts decide and lets move on.
You write $65,000 in Director Liability Ins. As to the 2002 report that you
refer to, you can see APBA spent $14,765.00 not $65,000.
Now to Sanction fees . You fail to mention that the Sanction fees have been the
same +/- 10% since Gene was chairman and the only person that changed ALL FEES
in APBA was Greg Jacobsen, who is also on your board. Why don't we get Jake to
respond.
You fail to say YOU increased the membership fees by $50.00 to go to you not
HQ.
Lets get to the Insurance. You make it your big hit. In 1999 APBA Offshore,
under then chair Gene Whipp, was paying $11,500 for $5,000,000 coverage for a 3
day event, now you pay in 2002 for the same coverage- $10,700. According to my
math you are paying LESS than it was 5 years ago?????????
As for your contract, was it not worked out in private ( OLD GUARDS) with the
same 2 men that are on your board. You keep talking about the past leaders and
they are in your group now. What does that say about your letter. Hearn did not
take over from Jones until Oct 31, 2002. Finally, as far as Brain H stating a
few weeks ago that things were a complete mess before MA took over. Mr H.,
Gene Whipp was the most respected chairman for APBA ever- and you disgracing
the work he has done for Offshore blows me away. He has turned over in his
grave over the past few years seeing what has become of all of his work. You
have not been in racing long enough to even make a comment about how things
were or how they are going to be.
