Default 35 fountain Stereo location question???

My buddy is installing a new system in his 96 35 lightning. He has a Sony remote (the round display remote...i think it is called the XM-10). He was wondering where to mount it. The stereo is located on the port side in the cabin, and the cable for the remote is about 15' long. He would like to put it on the dash somewhere, but doesn't know quite where to put it....due to not being much room because the amount of gauges. Did anyone mount one of these?? where did you mount it?? Also did you have to tear the ceiling in the cabin apart to run the cable over to the starboard side of the boat?

Also....If you have Subs and amps....Where did you mount them?

thanks

I have same remote and installed it myself, it was a B&*$#. I removed the trim and ran it under it, then drilled a hole to get from cabin to under the dash.

I mounted mine above the throttle control, it covers up the "Drive" label beside the drive switch on the dash, but on my dash that was the only place i had room.

Will

Fred....How are the cables run for the amps? are they run under the cabin ceiling, or do they go all the way back towards the stern and run up both gunwals?

also how visible is that remote down there? We thought about mounting it down there, but didn't believe it would be very visible and easily accesable while underway.

27 fever....i had to do something similar in my boat too....it was a b-i-t-c-h.

i told him to put it below the indicators for the drives and tabs. Your fountain has a "fountain" logo there....while his has writing that says something about fuel vapors and oil discharge. He thought that legally he needed that posted. I told him to just put the remote there, and post it somewhere else....like where your remote is. But then there is the issue of tearing the cieling apart to run the cable.

Oh well...thanks for the info...i'll leave it up to him.
