Default OT Best deck/dock sealer.

I just got done cleaning 2000 sq.ft. of dock Monday I'am going to sand the whole thing with a drum sander then seal it. Who makes the best sealer. Don't tell me Thompson's.

Olympic Premium w/ Honey gold tint. Comes with a three year guarantee against graying, the best I have ever used!

consumerreports.org

they do an extensive test on this stuff and have in depth articles about the good and the bad. None of the "clear" ones work well. The colored and opaque ones are best. It's all about how you want it to look.

My vote is TREX.

I wanted Trex, about 6k if I do it myself. Thats a lot of fun money for the summer. Trex is in the 3-5 year plan, but I am using it on the new fingers I am doing soon. It's now 9:15am Monday and I'am going down to the dock to start sanding.

I hope they've made some improvements to Trex over the years. I helped my Father-In-Law rebuild his deck a few years ago in Trex. Looks great, but when Summer came, we realized it gets so hot you can't walk on it with bare feet. Worse than blacktop.

We used this stuff "UV-40" I think that was it, comes in like a 5 gallon drum and looks like thousand island salad dressing. Worked really great for us in VA.

It's now 9:15 pm, I just got done sanding. Blew up the first rented sander, second was a peice of crap. Looks pretty good, I went with Olympic premium Ceder tone. It was the only one that they had enough of I needed 35 gal.

Tuesday I will replace 6 boards that I don't like because the are turning up on the end's, and spray the dock, as far as Trex being hot I have some on other deck's in the yard with the same amount of sun and it is cooler than wood, I don't know what color Rainmn had put they make 4 or 5 so some will be hotter than other's. I just can't keep pulling splinter's out of my kids feet.
