Tow Rig - Tire Question

Got a Dodge 2500 4X4 Diesel . . . What is a good all-purpose tire ?
Looking for a taller (33" to 35"), relatively quiet tire, for highway towing (9000 lb.), and some occasional tough off-road.
Any suggestions?

We put 35" pro-comp tires on my roomates F350. They are a large tire without the "whining" that is normally associated with it. The tread pattern is "ok" for offroading. You just have to look at the main purpose of the tire and go from there.

We recently bought tires. Had a set that lasted a long time but cupped if not rotated at every other oil change. For the life of me I can't remember the brand name. (If I can I'll edit it in here)
We went with the Dunlop Radial Rover. Quiet ride and good handling. They are 33x12.5x16.0 mounted on 16x10 rims.
They are on a 1997 Ford F-350 4x4 crew cab diesel
I recommend a good quality tire especially if you are towing a heavy load. Just remember you are only as good as your weakest link.
Good luck

Bill

I'm not sure what year truck you have, but on the 1998-2002 295/75 r16's on the stock 16X8 inch rims are the biggest you can go without rubbing. I haven't found much out there in load range E.

I am partial to Michelin becuase of quality and tire wear but agree that off road they are no good.

Check out http://www.turbodieselregister.com if want more info on setting up your Dodge.

Thanks for the response.
Anybody have experience with the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R?
Right now I'm running 315/75/16's

Do a search on subjects like this one. Chances are it has been covered in the past.

I went with Coopers, and could not be happier. Best tire I have owned.

I was going to suggest what I just had put on two weeks ago. But your tires are already larger than mine.
I bougt a set of BFG Long Trail T/A's for my F-250 4x4 in 265-75-16 for 120.00 a piece at Sam's Club. So far so good, no complaints.

BF Goodrich ATs period Most aggressive quiet tire available. Pricey but well worth it.
