I recently read that the current Midnight Express is a stretched 36' Cigarette, something akin then to the Cigarette 40.

I didn't know about their past, but that must be the case then for all of them, past and present.

Actually, didn't most every boat with the exception of the velocity come from the Cig/Cary?

I don't think any of the Sutphens did- several generations of boat building there that I don't think have any affiliation with Don.....
Another direct descendant Aronow design hull still being built- the 34' Monza CC is the old Cig wide-beam race boat hull.

I believe Commander boats out west is using the old 27'. I remember reading about it in HoTBoat magazine.

94 43SC Black Thunder
|
In 96 when I was at a poker run on Lk. St. Clair, I had a conversation with the owner's son about Black Thunder. I was impressed with the smooth ride and great speed for a big boat with just 2 500hp's so I asked how he came up with his hull design. He said they started with a 36 Cigarette wide body, stretched it and added a few of their own touches.

From what BobbyS told me the 33 Concept is the 33 Apache Sport hull and it was originaly taken from the Squadron boat mold that Don Aronow won like 168 races with and he stated sereral were powered to reach speeds over 100 with no problems
