V-drive transmission ?

V-drive transmission in a 1999 31' silverton with 454's what exactly is a V-drive transmission? good or bad?

A V-drive is actually a box that attaches to the rear of the trans. On my Silverton it has a Borg transmission attached to a Walter V-Drive. Walter is a company in New Jersey that supplied a lot of units to Silverton. There are also Hurth V-Drives and one other company that escapes me now.
The Walter is pretty indestructible with it's own oil pressure and cooling system.

They don't shift , they just change the direction of the power flow.
