Im partial to the Active Thunder. I would also look at some of the boats mentioned above but out of the bunch listed the quality varies greatly.
This one is for sale and within you budget. The only reason I would even consider selling is to get another AT.
Lightly modified 502MAG w/ 8 ours on it.
Bravo I w/ 3 hours.
The swim platform is not shown in the pic because it is out getting powder coated. Good luck and let us know what you find.

R Addiction;

My cousin has a 26ZX Donzi with a 500EFI in it. What a well made boat. Not too many made with the EFI in it, he actually yanked the 454MAG out and put the EFI in, but Donzi will build the boat with that motor. Consistently runs 75 on speedo..72+ on GPS.

I have a 25' Checkmate with a 500 which is a fast boat although I do question the ergonomics of the checkmate a bit. The Sonic is going to be heavier and a bit slower in a lake, but will fly past most in the rough. The Sonic has great fit and finish. The 25' Sunsation is about the closest thing to what you're used to with the Hydrostream (in my opinion) - it is an absolute rocket and will handle the rough although size wise it feels about half the size of most 25 footers. Great fit and finish though. A lot of the boats listed are great boats - just watch resale on some of them based on where you live. Some boats like Donzi will sell anywhere.

mikesufka, You know of any Allisons for sale for relatively cheap (under 1k)?

Thanks,
Tommy

mikesufka 05-20-2003 03:35 PM

Tommy

Less than 1K? Does that mean $1000? Or does that mean $10,000?

Check out www.screamandfly.com for used allisons. Or go to www.traderonline.com.

I just saw an allison grandsport on ebay for about $10,000 with a 225 Yamaha for power. That would be a sweet buy.

Tommy, if you are talking $1000. You may want to look towards older Hydrostreams. You may be lucky enough to find a Viper or Vector without a motor for that kind of money. More than likely it will need glass work. The cores rotted out in them. The Hydrostream Vixxen would fit your needs well. It was their 14' thriller. Hang a 70 off the back and hang on!

Be sure to go to the forums at screamandfly.

Also check www.hydrostream.org
