I spend a lot of time on Superior in Grand Marais, MI. With a prevailing SW wind we often have glass conditions. We have taken Jet Skis to Munising and back (90 mles) and never hit a bump. Now this can change in 10min so you need to watch the sky. We have been to Michipicaten (sp) Island which is abour 40 miles from Canada in my Donzi but had to spend the night when the weather turned. We were diving for agates. We still ran in 7-10 foot waves but we were running with them. We burned almost 200 gallons on that 120 mile round trip. Going back really sucked the fuel. They think the Edmond hit the bottom between Carabo Island and Michipicaton Island and began to sink from there. We went over the spot and in 20ft waves the trough would put them really close to the bottom with a full load.
