Default I have NO LUCK with belts!!!

I took Scooter and his wife, Jolley and his wife, and Mr. Demeanor out on my boat today to watch the start of the Smoke On The Water Poker Run. We were then going to run with them for a while and head to Muskegon for the Kilo runs.

Water pump belt broke about 3 minutes into our ride on Lake Michigan. And yes, again, I had no spare. Was racing RCHAP1 (Scott and Kendra) when all the sudden I got about 200 more rpm and the exhaust got real loud. Water temp went to 180 real fast. Backed down and hit the key. Scott and Kendra towed me in to the marina and Jolley took me to the parts store for a belt. Everyone else sat around and drank beer while Jolley and I replaced the belt. No problems after that except for the damn FOG!!!!

Scott, thanks for the tow.
Jolley, thanks for the ride to the store.
Scooter, thanks for coming down (sorry about the outcome of the run....)
Mr. Demeanor, good to see you again, and come on back with your boat!!

It was good to see all you other OSO'ers too (Quiet Storm, you have my heartfelt sympathy....been there, done that).

Thanks for the hospitality, you are the man when it comes to extreme speed thats why the belt broke, to much horsepower.

Luck guy,
Last time it happened to me it was the alternator belt that broke. Oh , and did I mention it got caught in the w/p belt and took that out too? I carry spares now too.

Cord, keep the green lawnmower belt!!!!

Quiet Storm blew a drive just before the South Haven card stop. Got towed in and had friends bring him and his family back to Grand Haven. Too bad, his new Sonic is beautiful!!!!!

Mike,
Another way to look at it.. with no water in the exhaust and no drag of the water pump, your good for a couple hundred rpm!! How fast did it go before the temp got too high??
You need to do some experimenting before LOTO.. that could be 2-3mph.. LOL

Just jerking your chain Mike.. I was working in the yard when I heard all this thunder on the Big Lake.. sounded awesome!!

Cuda, no, it had several seasons on it. Should have been replaced this spring.

I am planning on getting some of the water out of my exhaust at some point this season. Going to get rid of the rubber exhaust hose and dump the risor water overboard.
