Going with the HP525EFI! Any experience?

Thank you all for your Whipple input. I wasn't talked out of it, just found that for the money and the hassle, the 525 would do the required job. Seems like a great motor and comes with CMI headers and XR drive.

So anybody with any HP525 experience?

Merc is currently back ordered on these motors. About 3 week delay.
They are doing 100% quality control on them due to some piston scuffing on earlier versions.

Sucks! But good to know. Thanks!

SmartCraft is an option with most recent Merc engines, such as the HP525. Sends all pertinent info via an electronic bus to your dash. New gauges are simply plugged-in and connected daisy-chain-fashion. Great.

You can get gauges from Merc, VDO and Gaffrig. Electronically, they are all the same. The Gaffrig ones look better.

GPS: It doesn't come with GPS, but the system takes GPS input and uses it to calculate fuel consumption, display GPS speed etc.

HIGHLY recommended.
