LPA,
I run TrakAuto straight 30 wt. in my boat. There is no sense running the good stuff if you are going to change it all the time.;) ;) :p It's like $1 per qt.

WITH THE SCIENCE IN AMSOIL AND THE TOTAL ADDITIVE PACKAGE IT MAY BE NICE TO NOT HAVE TO CHANGE SO FREQUENTLY...I CAN GET BY THE WHOLE SEASON AND NOT COMPRIMISE A THING

Re: What oil are you running?

I have done weeks of data collection using mostly Bobtheoilguy.com's website postings for the last 12 months.

My final conclusion is that Mobil-1 has added several new products such as the Racing 0W-30 oil used by Penske and has improved most all it's formulations. Mobil-1 15W-50 is about equal to Amsoils base stock and additive package in their $ 8.00/qt Series 2000 20W-50. Mobil-1 75W-90 Gear Lube exceeds GL-5 API ratings and that's as good as it gets for heavy loads. Exxon/Mobil has the most certified products for aviation as well. Mobil has caught up and perhaps gone beyond RP and Redline in terms of performance.
No reason to spend more when Mobil-1 is convenient to get and $ 4.00/qt at Walmarts in 5-qt containers. A/C Duraguard is the best (cheap) $ 5.00 oil filter. Mobil-1 is the best (10 micron) $ 11.00 filter. Baldwin is the best
$ 22.00 oil filter. Mobil-1 filters are made by Champion and filter and flow equally as well as the Baldwin.

There may be a benefit using RP or Redline in the drives as moly might have a slight advantage over the others. Maybe.

Re: What oil are you running?

It seems as the people in the colder climates are using lighter weight oils 30-40 were the southern lake goers are using the heavier grades (50wt.). I had a difficult time keeping the temps down with a strait 40 castrol and switched to the valvoline racing 50. I have never had a problem with temps or with burning oil ever since and this was on a 500efi whipple running 8.5 lbs of boost on av gas. I tore the engine down after 100 hours and it was perfect inside - no signs of overheating, or wear of any kind to the bearings, journals, pistons or rings. Now I'm back to stock 500efi's and wonder if the straight 50 is too heavy and should I go to a 15-50 M1. It is difficult to judge until to run and tear everything apart.

Blower motor. Change every 10 hours. Use Kendall Racing 20/50 and Fram HP4
