Ford Sport Trac as a tow vehicle
I currently am using a 98 Grand Cherokee to tow my 25 Powerquest. Which is max for the cherokee with the 4.0 liter.
I'm looking to move up into a 28-29 footer within the next 2 years. However I put some miles on the vehicle for work, so gas milage is an issue. Does anyone use a sport trac as a tow vehicle?? If so how does it do?? Have the feeling I'll have to go to a full size 4 dr 4X4. Thanks Brian |
How far do you tow? If you are hooked on Fords, the F-150 Supercrew is a really nice truck, and the 5.4 will do ya for short tows. I would not recommend the Sport-Trak. It will be NO better than your GC.

I put a tow package on a Sport Trac for a customer just yesterday. After looking at the tow ratings on everything it wouldn't be my first choice.
Go fullsized. Buck |
My buddy tows a 22 baja hammer with one and it sucks he is always stopping for gas (small tank) goes through brakes (he is hard on it). If you are going to tow anything larger than a 22 I would say no way. I guess I am a little anal when it comes to having plenty of truck though I just bought a 03 2500 HD dmax to tow my 24.

Thanks guys that what I needed to hear. It simply amazes me that these smaller vehicles get no better gas milage than a full size. Guess I'll be shopping for a full size.

Don't do it!
At least a F150, I Tow a 28 Pantera with a F250 Powerstroke and it's the right vehicle for the job. |
The F150 will more than likely be my choice. Or possibly a Chevy.
