Default Mufflers: HPI or Shotgun?

Ok. I've heard that HP525 today. It sounds great. You can hear it for miles and miles and miles and miles. I definitely want mufflers on mine. Clamp-on, so that I can remove them when necessary. I pretty much narrowed my choices down to Drew Marine Shotgun or those new HPI miracle mufflers. Please help me make a decision. Need to order ASAP.

Single HP525 in a Kryptonite. Silent choice bult in. Need full-time mufflers to take the edge off. I live at the bay where I boat.

Compare cost. I've been running the Shotguns for years. BUT, at WOT they do not provide much, if any, sound dissapation. They are meant to provide noise control at idle speeds. I am told all the time that my boat is really loud when I fly by people. This is with the Shotguns on the boat.

Not all that familiar with the HPI set up. But I would venture a guess they do more for you at planing speeds than the Shotguns would.

Interesting point, Waterfoul.

HPI recommended by Cigarette? Now that's an endorsement.

I use IMCO's clamp ons and I think they were about $450 a pair.

CMI has patented muffler systems that range in idle Dba specs. from 85 to 92 , depending on the local authorities regulations. Backpressures at W.O.T. are very low(well below manufacturers specs.) . Available in clamp on or transom mount with list prices for clamp ons at $ 451 pr.

Can the HPI mufflers be used in blown applications? Can any muffler be used in blown applications?
