boat insurance

 I purchaced a 26 daytona last month and love the boat until i was cancelled on the ins. last week because the ins. company now doesn't ins. cats.Getting quotes on ins. finally a company will ins. me but they want $3000 a yr. boat is laid up for 7 months=$600 a month for ins.I also have a 25 outlaw v-bottom i pay $502 a yr.Is there anything we boaters can do besides sale are boats?I've talked to 7 ins. companies and they don't ins. cats or they have to be 30' or longer i guess size does matter.

I have a v bottom boat 25 ft long it's a checkmate but that should not matter in insurance. I have National Marine Underwriters in New York. I think they handle just about everything try them. Good luck! Just a question why change sides v-bottoms have a good "stabbin" cabin and you can stay overnight.

You might give Progressive a try. I am looking at a boat that my current insurance company wont insure and I called progressive and was surprised what they quoted me.

RICH and JENN; welcome! Thanks for the stay at the house last weekend. See this thread that came up yesterday about All State:

http://offshoreonly.com/forums/showt...ight=insurance

Also, talk to my insurance guy:
Reese Scott, at IMIS, out of Annapolis: 1-800-541-4647 He takes VERY good care of me. $637 for my Sonic.

I also recommend a couple million dollar umbrella liability insurance policy over anything you own, which cost me a couple hundred a year from State Farm. I can give you my agent's contact if you want up here in Fairfax. They are also excellent, AND were willing to insure the Sonic for a few dollars cheaper, but I opted to stay with NMU.

Let me know if I can help.

If I were a Cat builder, (Eliminator, HTM, MTI, Skater, etc, etc), I would set up something very exclusive with a reputable insurance carrier, (oxymoron there?), and recommend ALL of my customers go through them. Sounds like a better way to sell a lot of cats AND a lot of insurance for them.
