Looks like they are going to get their way with the mufflers. Damn BLOW BOATERS I can't stand them. Like mentioned in an earlier thread, Mike Fusco needs to cruise by them and let the turbines do their job.
But I do have a solution, since they are going to abandon the 90-decibel limit, and pretty much board your boat, and just look at it. Why doesn't some one just hollow out the muffler. So when they board, it sure looks like ya have one, but it's still nice and loud. There's always a way to beat the system.

Sgt Harry and the local state Police boyz are really very cool. I had 3 of them with me for a ride on Jet Set at 190. All the gun belts were just thrown on the floor so they could sit easily.
Harry is now known as Sgt Bouy as he placed the no wake markers to keep the peace. Now he'll do as little as possible to shut up the sqweeky wheel sailboaters and once again keep everyone happy.
I wouldn't complain about mufflers. Its a long way from a state wide 30mph speed limit. Put em on and be happy as you go speeding by as many sailboats as you can find.

Wish I took a pic of the Sailboat the ran the sandbar on July 3rd down the Naversink. Had to be the most uncomfortable thing, the 3 of the onboard looked like they were ready to fall off if the tide went down anymore. One day I'll meet ya Ron!

Luci, make sure you join the mailing list at www.njoffshore.com and volunteer as a patrol boat for the race in Point Pleasant Friday Aug 15th.
You'll have a blast.
The Atlantic City Race is next Sunday.

Lucidee, the SBB.org didn't get anything other then their plea for more enforcement.
The muffler law has been on the books since 1987. The decibel test hasn't been enforced due to it put the officers and the general public at too much of a risk. They tried idle tests at the dock and got mixed results.
This was a BIG WIN for our side to not be subject to noise levels, and only have some sort of a fulltime muffling device.
The reason for the lack of tests also may be when a local boater was issued 7 citations for loud exhaust. He took it to court and his lawyer ask to have the (Outboard) of the Police Boat tested with the same test that his client was tested with. From what I was told, it too failed to pass the test. Needless to say, thrown out of court.
