T-N-T I had the same problem when I tried crossovers and went back to circulating pumps. Here is a picture.

It's got to be something with those northern waters, we don't have that **** down here Cig38, whoever you are. Just run the **** out of 'em and let the builder deal with it. Hope It was a reputable dealer,,,,,,,,,,,no, You're ****ed.

Dave,
Did you have the problem before the rebuild? I can think of several things that could cause your problem. You may have already checked them. Give me a call if I can help 954-931-9111

Classcig38,
Did you have these pick ups with both water systems?

T-N-T,

I didn't have the problems before the rebuild. I had the IMCO Powerflow manifolds on before with no problems. I don't have a water pressure gauge in the boat and am making some deductions just from what I have seen. I am in the process of getting the relief valve and plumbing it. Once that is complete, I will then be ready to take the boat out and will hook up a temporary gauge to see what my actual readings are. It still is possible that the water I'm seeing in the oil is from condensation and not from any problems internally with a gasket.

Re: Merc Water pressure relief valve #

Yes I did. I still get about 30-35 PSI with the circulating pumps at wide open.
But it was worse with the crossovers.

Thanks

Re: Merc Water pressure relief valve #

Will this valve work if it is plumbed in before the raw water pump or does it have to go in between the raw water pump and crossover?

My current set up is transom pick up to sea strainer to oil/ps cooler to raw water pump to crossover. Between the cooler and the raw water pump appears the easiest place to plumb it in.

Thanks!

Re: Merc Water pressure relief valve #

You could put it before the pump but if your pump is seeing 25 psi it then will increase it from there. On the outlet of pump it will only let the motor see 25 psi what is what you want.
