Angry Boat vandalism and theft

Someone is coming into the marina at night and stealing stuff off members docked boats.
It is presumed they are coming in by boat.
The stuff stolen so far is basically fishing equipment, and emptying coolers of beer; no electronics have been taken.
But they did untie one boat and set it adrift.
The night guard supposedly takes a walk down
the docks once an hour.
Its really pissing a bunch of people off!

Any one have any suggestions?

I've been a Victim also. My boat has been parked on the trailer in front of my house and within the last couple of days, someone got under the cockpit cover and stole my fire extinguisher and two dock lines. Luckily thats all they took.

Camp out and have handy a wooden baseball bat. That even helps to scare people enough to where they will not tailgate you!

How about a couple of those imitation video cameras, that pan back and forth upon sensing movement. They look pretty slick, and honest, and not very expensive.

I would probably use my XM-21 sniper rifle with an AN-PVS2 night vision scope. 7.62 X51 168 grain Sierra Match King in front of 42.5 grains of IMR-4895 with CCI bench rest primers. Or the Russian Dragunov.....

But that's just me! Seriously- be careful. You don't know what they may have. .45 against a bat is not good.

Good luck with catching this scumbag.

Here is what I would do get a couple of your friends together "3 to 4"and basically stake the place out, always save one for a point man or incase things shake down the wrong way. "My uncle used to be on the force he's always give me his piece of mind" Also how well do you know the guard watching your boats for all you know he's in on it and is a watch man when they do their stealing. Sounds like these guys need a good old fashion a** kicking!!
