Who invented steps? Some old school racing stuff IMPSHI CLASS RACERS
I was up at the Lake Winni. NH wooden boat show today and was lucky enough to catch a look into some really cool boat history. I am going to type the info from this boat that I saw. It is a very cool deal and pay SPECIAL attention to the bottom. IT HAS STEPS and it was build in the 20's.
IMPSHI CLASS RACERS
Few boats have the enduring beauty of George Crouch's Gentlemans's Racers from the 1920's. In three years Crouch designed Baby Bootlegger, Teaser, Typhoon, Miss Columbia, Impshi, Nuisance, Sister Syn, Miss Syndicate, and Rainbow IV.
Impshi and Nuisance were identical boats built and launched in 1925. Both of thees thoroughbred racers went on to race for 15 years. Impshi won the Gold Cup at Lake George Driven by Kaye Don, British Harmsworth pilot, famous for setting world land and water speed records and his duels with Gar Wood (another boat manufacturer and actuall person from what I was told today)
Both boats raced under different names, racing numbers and color schemes. Some of these names include Impshi, Delphine VI, Ethyl Ruth III, Hornet, Nuisance, Jay Dee, and Miss Miami Beach.

Sorry the steps did not turn out so good but if you look at were the bottom seems to wave those are actually steps with very defined edges.
Check out the transom on this thing

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Steve Step "invented" the step or what we call the notched transom. What is this?

Steps go back into the 1800's according to legend there was a test for the royal navy using a sky rocket for power on a stepped model. if the story was true.
