Default Suggestions For Boating on the Ohio River

I have yet to ever make it down to the Ohio River for boating...Im just getting comfortable with feeling like the new motor has the bugs all worked out..(50 hours later ) I live close to Dayton about an hour from Cinci...Where is a good place to put in? I have heard several people mention around Ripley and Maysville...Any sugesstions on marinas or the river in this area? Also where can I go to get some good info and maps on boating on the river...Are there any special rules about the river? Also what about boating in or close to Cinci itself?

River hmm I think that was that muddy thing I drove over on my way home from cumberland tonight. Just kiddin the river can be a blast there is usually a lot to do concerts at river bend, the bars and restraunts, fireworks havent seen them for years always at cumberland. The river has been pretty high a lot this summer check the level make sure it is down before you come down and you will have a lot more fun. Wednesday nights a fun (party in the park).

The river is a blast when it is not a mess like it has been most of this year.

Launch at Schmidt Field, as said above. Check out this link before you come down........be sure the river is under 28 or 29 feet for optimal boating. Lots to do, plenty of ffod and drink around on the river....

Usually a great time, lot's of High perf guys out and about.....

The river has been a mess this year !! 25+ years I have never seen it this bad this late in the year
Coming from Dayton...Schmidt is your best bet.
"Special rules"......Yea,Every man for himself !!!! The "Rules of the road" do not exist on the river !!

Sounds like you guys are having the same problems with the Ohio where your at as we are up here. This year is horrible for boating. And its not the occasional log and debris, its the occasional phone pole and tree. I am actually kinda glad that my boat has been in the shop some this year getting upgrades. Less chance of getting torpedoed by a log.
