Have a late April 03 Excursion 6.0.
11,000 miles and not a problem yet.
Great all around and 20 mpg on the highway at about 75mph.
A neighbor has an early 250 6.0 and Ford bought it back. Even paid to switch his lift kit to the new one. New 04 is fine so far with 6,000 miles.

I went with an 03 X with the 7.3. I didn't want to be the ginny pig and at 31,000 miles I have had no trouble at all. The truck is one year old now and I am almost out of warrenty. The engine is 100,000 miles so I should be OK for a few years.

Hi bojoe2,
Sorry to hear about the problems. I also heard many bad things about the 03 on "Thedieselstop.com". I read many posts and made a decision on buying the 04.
Its like boating...when you have many problems with a boat motor you have your eyes always on the dash making sure nothing is going wrong. I feel I'm going to be the same way with this new truck because of the problems they've had.
Not really a good way to enjoy something you just bought. I'll keep my fingers crossed...
Good luck,
zzie
