ok Dan,
a 2000 32 AT with 502MPI's (415HP) will run 75.4 gps.
Now let's add 1 ft., step the hull, and add 20 more hp (496ho's), and about the same weight, and now you get the new 33 AT.
Realistically, a generous 3 mph gain, right??

Thunder32 08-22-2003 09:11 PM

I guess I could be missing something....a step hull makes a huge difference???

.... but to the question at hand.....you really can't go wrong with any of the boats mentioned above...:)

I am hopefull for anywhere from 4-7 mph gain....This is what we saw with the 37 when we went form a conventional to the step......

just my .02...

Why so cynical. I have a very heavy 37 AVH with 500EFI's a 4kw diesel Genset, a/c with heat, the whole 9 yards and it runs 79 mph with stock 32P Bravos at 4500-4600 RPM. With a little labbing and a little less pitch she'll hit the low 80's with 83-84 a reasonable expectation. The boat hit 81 with labbed 30's with the motors on the rev limiters. I think ToddW told me he is getting 75 out of his 37AVH with 496 HO's.

The AVH hull is very efficient. I am using no more fuel per hour in my 37 than I did with my 290 PQ and I am cruising 10-15 mph faster. Add to that the ride quality and the ability to maintain higher speeds in rough conditions.....it is a hard set up to beat.

It must be one of two things.....either you know what you are getting and do not want anyone else to have one......or you really do not know what you are getting:D

Harry's hull (DDC) kicks but:D

Kidrock how about a Cat?

xtremecatman 08-22-2003 11:44 PM

h2o is right on the money. A cat? If you are racing, yes, if you want pleasure and good all around handling and rough water performance without getting wet, stick with a V. Active Thunder builds a nice step bottom performer. Good Luck!

I would like your opinion on an Awesome 38 cat. I don't want to cut in on this thread. Cats wasn't the question here, but I wanted to make contact with you and hear your thoughts.

Name a thread and I'll start it.
:)

Good in the rough but not as fast as others.
