Oh yeah??
Listen to this-
I recently moved the boat from Delray Beach, which is in Palm Beach County. It sits on a trailer in a locked yard, to my office here at Lauderdale Marine Center in Ft.Lauderdale.
This place has 24hr manned security, gates, lights, etc.
Progressive wanted to UP my insurance $800!!!!!! Dude- I only moved it 30 miles south!.
I told'em that I'll be taking it back to Delray.
I let the lady on the phone know that I thought she was crazy. But she said rates go by zipcode.
So, I can park it in Delray (in a bad neighborhood if I want to... for $800 less than a place with 24 hr security...

My "Delray rate" is $1650.
'99 Pantera, Twin 502MPI, Trailer, $70k Agreed value.

FYI, my truck insurance went up $50/yr, and I moved 10 miles south of Lauderdale!

WTF?

You guys have posted the rates that have been increased on your boats, but you need to also mention what size boats, speed, and what kind of power you guys are running----it helps give an idea for comparision. Thanks

I 'm confused on why Progressive quoted me 1474.00 for agreed value of 42,00.00 on a 1996 Velocity with (1) HP500. PLUS, we live in Po-dunk Brevard county! Sounds like I might need to call them back!
Thanks for your input,
Dean

Dean,
Do me a favor and don't bring up my name, or location.. I don't want them to catch on if they made a mistake...
I had recieved quotes from other providers for up to $4800!!
I wouldn't have bought the boat if insurance was going to be more than $2k.

I'd just go get an old boat and insure it for liability only, and eat ****aki if something ever happened. I wouldn't insure this thing if the Bank didn't hold the pink slip...

Sometimes I wonder if I'd be better off with a $15,000 boat...

The world penalizes us for having nice things...

Man alive: With rates like that we should get together and start our own OSO Insurance Company.

Dean Ferry 09-04-2003 03:17 PM

Tim,
No problem, I did not mention any names or locations! Called back Progressive, and the original quote was correct!!
This is CRAZY!

Just called National Marine Underwriters and got a quote on a boat we are buying....$3,159.00
2003 Powerquest 380 with t-525's. They asked every question under the sun.............even back in to the 70's

Tim G.
You might think you are safe with a low price........but if something was to happen.......that's when the **** hits the fan
Their mistake becomes your loss.....not theirs

AN ADDITION: Just got a quote from Markel (whom I already have my "cat" with them) They want $4,140.00 for the Powerquest....WTF? All because I hit them up for an underwater (submerged) claim 2 years ago and it cost an outdrive...them $3400.00 and me $3400.00. At least I split it with them
