Looks like a little Allison. Unfortunately, they're only about 300hp.

The seller is probably right, exmilitary. No books, no power, no value.

T63-A-700

The Allison T63 is a free-shaft axial/radial flow gas turbine. The compressor has 8 stages, 7 axial and 1 centrifugal. The compression ratio is 6.2:1, it flows approximately 3.0 lb/s (2,250 cfm) @ 51,600 rpm. The combustion chamber is a single can design. Two turbines drive the compressor and two drive the load through the gearbox (front or rear) at 35,000 rpm. Specific fuel consumption is 0.7 lb/shp/h. The engine weighs 138 lb and produces approximately 317 hp. (2.33 shp/lb) With the integral reduction gearbox this engine will produce 277 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm.

$15K seems kind of expensive for the performance of a 350.

my B.

i though that it was one of the ones they use in unlimited hydros. I guess those are from bigger choppers not hueys.

although in a small single engine boat tha might be cool. save 700lbs over a big block and make about the same HP.

Puder,

The unlimited use Lycoming T55-7C turbines. They are out of Chinooks and make approx. 2500 hp in todays fuel restricted hydro racing. They cost about 120k for a tight engine thats been marinized. They can be had mush cheaper but you'll pay in the long run...
