Swim Platforms
 

I was just reading an article on swim platforms in this months Poker Runs America and it got me thinking. (Yes that is dangerous:D ) If you put extension boxes on Bravos, would it be a good idea to use a deeper platform?
I use the boat in the cove quite often, and our kids bail off the back all the time! It's a question of safety, I guess.
Also, does anyone know who makes the Cigarette platforms? In house or purchased from someone else?
I am e-mailing them on the subject, but I thought someone might know.

I guess it sounds like it makes sence but how much is too much as far as looks? Remember the kids skin will eventually grow back, Kids are resilient. Ugly is Ugly :D:D

To the best of my knowledge, Cigarettes supplier of their swim platforms is Innovative Fabrication in Cocoa, FL. Speak to Terry and tell him I sent ya. He will take good care of you and prices are reasonable.

I have been to his place and have seen driveshaft covers for Cigarette, bolster frames and swim platforms. He does top notch work.

I would think the stock Cig platfroms would be sufficient- depends on your kids though- some are more injury prone than others.

My 9 yr old has spent the last three summers jumping off the back of my 25' Daytona swim steps- these are two small steps straddling the Bravo and labbed 30" prop. I've taught him about jumping away from the boat at a 45.

My "new to me" Pantera has a sizeable platform (24" I think) over the 7" ITS and it's light yrs safer than my Daytona ever was with regard to someone getting into the drive.

You could alway's take some safety measures for the kids- put on padded prop covers- you could also get a foam float and modify/rig it to hang horizontally off the platform as a kid deflector (like a cow catcher on a train).

I'd rather take some ribbing from my buddies about my padded boat than take a kid in for stitches or worse.
