Default Gill marine

This is a bash thread. I'm bashing because I'm not happy. Why? Well, I have a pair of Gill marine plastic battery hold downs. I liked the plastic ones, because they wouldn't corrode from the acid. My assumption was that if Gill was making one out of plastic, that it would be strong enough for a marine application. Well down at LOTO I broke one of the rings that go over the batter. Called Gil up and they were more than willing to sell me another. Wouldn't even reduce the price or cover shipping. Fine. Well, today I broke the other side. I won't be replacing it with another Gill piece! I need a battery hold down that is going to last. Anybody know of one that I won't be able to break?

The top ring on my Gill box broke too. I replaced it with one from Eddie Marine. It looks much better.

I took the Gil units out of my old Eliminator as well. They are junk. Bought 4 (yes 4! ) Eddie marine pieces and couldn't have been happier! Top notch stuff.

My plastic Gils also broke. 2 years ago i called and spoke to a guy named John Salvatore and complained about them. he told me that they probablt were not adjusted right from the factory, and he sent me 2 new ones free of charge, and i had to send him my old ones back.

Well i adjusted the new ones the way he told me, and one has broke again. I tried calling him again, and they said he is no longer with Gil. Then they tried to sell me replacements.

My Gills broke, called them and they agreed there junk for the application. They offered a discount I said no thanks and now I have some great looking Eddie Marine Optima boxes.

See the trend here!
