Fountain Value

Looking at a 2000 42' Fountain Lighting with twin staggered 500efi's. 195hrs., very clean boat from pics. No trailer. Owner says 80mph with the step hull. Asking 196k with a 15,000lb lift included.

Trying to get an idea of value before making the short trip to view the boat. I know I didn't't get the exact list of other options that are on the boat...but hopefully someone can give me a ballpark idea.

Is that "Double stuff"?

Hope this might help out.

I had a friend to buy a new (left over) 2000 model at the end of the 2000 season. It was a Lightning, 500 EFI's staggered and very nice except it did not have A/C or a pump out head.

The boat would run 80 MPH and rode and handled GREAT!

He paid $215,000 new. In June of the following year he wanted a faster boat and went to trade it in on a new 42 with BIG power. The offered him $165,000 trade in. He called me and asked if I wanted it for the same $165,000. I could not swing it at the time. That did not include the trailer, and I did not have anything to tow it with.

One of those deals I missed out on. He traded it in and probably regrets it. The big power was a BIG mistake.

Anyway, I think based on this that the price is too high.

With the economy the way it is Low ball them. Go real low if he wants it that bad he can always come up in price. Work the price from the basement and come up.

:D Beside tell them you measured the boat and it seems shorter then advertised:crazy:

Too High

I have seen 42 Ftn w/ 500's staggered for 135k with trailer.

Values are down, end of season.

I have seen that boat also. He hangs out around Wabasha and on Lake Pepin alot. That is the one with the large 42 in yellow on the sides of the hull. Not sure if I like the arch on that boat. I think he keeps it near Wabasha or in Parkside marina.

I have been on the river with him and it seems to run fine.

Why did he regret the big power? 900 sc's and #6's?

Hummmm

50hr service of the tops = $10,000-$15,000
100hr complete rebuild = $30,000 - $40,000

Could be..........:D :D

Noper....Double Stuf is a 2002 owned by a friend of mine.
Yep your right. So this is the 42 that was on the poker run? The one that HP500efi described.
