I guess the question should be changed to :
Why doesn't anyone make a V bottom w/single surface drive today? |
Do these surface drives offer better reliability than a Bravo, for instance?
|
Rick, We made a 29 Scarab with
twin canopies and a Arneson rockers, The Arneson drive was installed by Paul Abreu and He was the throttleman with Bob Vila owner/driver. As I remember it did very well on the west Coast and Won the First race at the Worlds in the "A" Class. I think it was the only 29ft Scarab with twin f16 canopies, GREAT looking boat. Mike J. |
We had a 26' Corsair with a single BBC & an Arneson. Great boat very fast. Just was a pain in the ass to try and turn in the river, or marina.

I remember seeing a older boat up at the 1000 island poker run a few years ago. It was a brown color , mid 20 ft range and it had a 900sc . I believe it had a surface drive. It defiantly was an insane ride.

Twin Disc, who produce Arneson drives have come out with a new drive called the Zeta drive. Fountain may consider making a 29 fever. With a 500 Efi and ASD should run mid 80's.

Harry Schoells' Infinity (31') and his PSI drive.
Super boat..great handling at all speeds and loves BIG water. |
What about a Pantera 28' with a single 575 and arneson/bravo conversion drive.

It sems like it would be a little finicky to dock-maybe a rudder might help.
Also for those who have had them-did the boat turn better to one side or the other?? It seems like a twisting prop on the end of the lever arm might try and turn the boat to one side. |
