OT: Possible Relocation to Knoxville, TN

I've been thinking of trading trucks, maybe I'll do this before I move. In Iowa the tax rate on a new vehicle is 5% of the trade difference. Boats are now taxed @ 7% because there is a 2% local tax applied. Cars are exempt from the local taxes. I guess the car dealer lobby did us a favor when these new taxes were enacted.

Seems like Knox County auto tags are about $34-$36. Boat registration is dependant on length and the number of years you want to buy. I think up to 26' it is $20 year, up to 30 something feet it is a little more ($28?). If you buy more than one year you save $1 for each year you buy. I've never registered for more than one year, but I never seem to keep anything for more than a year either.

What kind of boat do you have? I usaually don't boat up where you're at, but sometimes we take a friends cruiser up to downtown. I'm at Fox Road Marina and usually hang out between Prater Flats and the dam.

Re: OT: Possible Relocation to Knoxville, TN
dont forget the lakes that are about 1.5 or so hours west of Knoxville. I have spent many many hours boating on both Center Hill and Dale Hollow lakes. They are 2 of the nicest lakes I have ever been on. Crystal clear water.....no stink.....no water line on the boat.......at least as of a few years ago. They are not the biggest lakes around but very family oriented, they also have some food and beer joints spread around the lakes. Worth a look. We lived in a town called Cookeville which is between Nashville and Knoxville on RT. 40 and we kick ourselves in the ass everyday for ever moving away from there. Matter of fact it looks like we will be relocating to the Knoxville/Sevierville area within the next 2 to 3 months......Good times are ahead!

As a matter of fact there is going to be a Poker Run on Center Hill on Sept 18. There should be a few of us Knoxvillians heading out that way. Jeff (NashvilleBound) posted a thread about it on Hotboat.
Jeff - you want me to post that stuff here?

one more thing
Voodoo
Knox County just passed a wheel tax ($36)... It looks like it may get repealed. The petitions have been signed (~25000 signatures) so it will be on the ballot this fall.
