There is not that much of a price jump from the two, same opps. power and size (legnth) about a 100k more but if you look at them side by side you see why. OL has things on their boats I have never seen on a Fountain, most Fountain's don't get 50k paint job's either.
Get 2 white hulls no frills just the stuff to make it U .S.C.G. legal, same power the OL is going to cost more but it's going to hold up better drive better and be faster.
I hope Reggie builds a 42 foot long 9 foot wide boat that has 6 foot head room in the cabin loaded with opps. that will run 125 MPH with 1200 hp motors and lets the customer set up where he/she wants the seats and left or right hand throttle's. Then sells it for 300k I'll be one of the first in line.

Yes, and its a true pleasure boat, complete w/ cabin, sunpad, etc. OL builds a great boat, but there is no doubt, and I think most will agree, that Fountain could cut the top off one of his super vees, add a back seat and 1400's, and run w/ the OL's.

Mr. Offshore said it good I think. However I hope that his quest for the #1 spot does not put his company in jepordy again. It is going to cost a lot to build a boat to run that fast....

All he has to do is put 1400 hp in one of his boats and go for it.

Fountain builds an excellent product, but comparing them to Outerlimits is an apples to oranges. Look at the range of products built by Fountain compared to the very limited range of Outerlimits. Outerlimits builds for a very small percentage of the high performance market. All of the stuff coming out of their factory has heavy HP, wild paint, and custom this and that.
Now look at the range of boats coming out of Fountain. When was the last time an Outerlimits left the factory with even moderate HP, ie: 500 EFI, etc?
It'll be interesting to see when Reggie goes after the mark again. After all, ego is ego.
