Default Help me Find my Brother a boat...

well my Brother in law has bought a place in Ft. Meyers Florida on the intercoastal he's got a lift in the back yard and needs to fill it. Thats where we come in, he's never owned a boat before.......isnt the least bit machanical and has 5 kids now fill that bill. I was thinking a Center councel sport fisher would be cool ,with a 4 stoke out board...what do you guys think???he wants to stay under 60k around 24-30 ft range. whats the easiest to care for in the salt an IO or OB????Some of the newer Merc packages have closed cooling are they easier to care for???

The merc packages that have closed cooling still have salt water going through the heat transfer coil and the exhaust. The engine itself never sees salt but you should still flush the parts that do.

I dont know much on outboards but they are a world easier to maintain. I had a boat with a 150. It started every time and never gave me any problems. I think most of them now also have a flushing attachment too. Plus when you take it out of the water most of the remaining water runs back out too.

Outboards all the way! Now if you want that big block rumble..........
