Default accident

This is a story about a coworker of mine, his name is Jim. He is an older fellow, proably over 70. He just called us a couple of minutes ago to say that we was going to be delayed returning from his trip. This is the story why...

A few weeks ago a driver ran a red light and T-boned his station wagon. Totalled it and briefly put him in the hospital. A week later he leaves for a month long trip in Florida. He drove down. Seems that he has been renting a car in Florida. I believe they were in Largo. His insurance was going to cut the rental off so he and his wife went shopping for a new car. They signed the paperwork and took posession of the car. Jim told his wife to drive the new car over to the rental place and he'd follow her in the rental. She accidentally puts the car into reverse and backs into the rental. She mistankenly hits the gas instead of the brake. With the new car she pushes the rental into the street. The rental jacknifes and she slides past. She continues across the median and gets t-boned by a passing car. Somewhere along the way, the air bag fires knocking her out. Her car continues down an embankment and rolls over. It finally stops after crashing into a apartment building, but not before destroying a phone box. Apparently she's OK, but the new car is totalled.

It's a really stupid mistake, yet it happens so often. Remember all the cases of "unexplained acceleration" from the 80's? That's when GM picked up the brake to shift interlock. Freekin' annoying feature, but it's unfortinate that their "new" car didn't have it.

Give him 3 days off. Unpaid of course. However pay him for those three days if he is able to divorce the wife in the three days.

She then hits a pole which stops her.....for a minute....she keeps her foot planted on the gas and the pole gives way. She careens back across the four-lane street, hits the berm again, which re-directs her back out onto the street. She then broadsides a passing car, killing both occupants in the car.....all the while she had her foot floored on the gas. The final impact disabled her car preventing her from causing further death and destruction.
And she probably just got a "bad Granny, please pay attention next time". The rest of us would be in Jail for the rest of our lives....

Default Sorry to hear about your co-worker Cord

That sounds like part old driver and part bad f-ing luck!!

Had a similar mishap happen at the body shop next door on Wednesday. An older guy hit the gas instead of the brake and drove over the body shops sign and some new body parts that had been delivered (doors, fenders etc). Continued up the embankment and hit the brick building right where the front door is! I guess the bright side is.....he saved himself a tow bill getting it towed to the body shop.
