Default More go?

Anybody have a chip in their 6.0 truck???? Exhaust?
I think I'm going to go to a dealer and try to drive a truck without the sales guy sittin' next to me.
A few good 1/2 mile drags should tell me if I'll be able to bear the small engine... I'm a motor guy...gotta be able to run.

I know the Dmax is the way to fly, but that's the difference between payments and no payments...

My current '00 3500/454/auto has been a good truck, once the bugs were worked out.
It too had a bad pump from the factory. Then the dealer replaced it, and folded a gasket over a pasage. Then we headed off to bike week with the loaded trailer...and made it from PA to SC and the trans had eaten it self alive... I guess no oil will do that to a mechanical divice...
The good ole' boys in Columbia SC fixed it up lik new... that trans hasn't whimpered once. 4L80E

I should have never got rid of mu '94 with 454.... you know.. you always want what ya had... but I don't want to get a new truck and want this one back...

with my 6.0L i averaged 11-13mpg unloaded depending upon driving conditions, whereas my duramax averages between 17-19mpg. both are GMC 2500HD's,4x4 with 4.10's. the 6.0L is an extended cab and the Duramax is a crew.

I've got a gibson full stainless cat-back swept-side (still exits both pipes behind passenger side tire as well as a UPD intake and have used the hypertech power programmer. Seems to work nice but it's a 6000 pound truck and not a sports car. The most important thing for me was the sound. I get 15-16 mpg on the highway being very light on the throttle. There is no way you can justify the cost of the diesel unless you are towing some MAJOR weight. I did a quick calculation if diesel and gas price is the same and the diesel gets 5mpg better fuel economy. Driving both trucks the same distance you would have to drive 160,000 miles to justify the $4K upgrade to diesel. Of course the warranty is longer on the duramax and the power is much better for towing. But I don't tow everyday and I don't keep my vehicles long enough to rack up that kind of mileage.

Other than the cold-start "knock" on the 6.0L I like the engine!!!

I pulled a 28' Eliminator V with a Denali (6.0 liter) with absolutely no problems. did suck the fuel though, around 8mpg on the interstate at 80mph.
My 2500HD Duramax pulls the cig (9000lbs + steel Myco trailer) at 80 mph and gets a REAL 15 MPG.
I don't drive nice.
You will love the diesel, except for two things:
1. Trying to fill up using a truck stop pump. That sucks.
2. Filling up all the time because you can only hold 26 gallons.

I have found where i can get dieel from a small hose everywhere I go, and I would buy an auxillary tank in I were hauling tons of miles.

Cold start knock--

All 6.0L gas have a slight knocking sound at start-up. Something to do with short piston skirts and not all of them being teflon coated. Some are more noticable than others. The knock goes away once the engine is at temperature.

Does the 5.3 have this too???, Mine makes just the slightest noise when first started, No big deal, but with 4 years of payments left, it skeered me the first time I heard it.
