Chevy 2500 vs 3500 - difference???
What is the difference between a 2500 HD and a 3500. The trucks look the same, the tow ratings are the same. I assume the springs are a little stiffer in the 3500. Any other differences? Frame? Brakes? Any GM techs out there?
Thanks,
Steve

I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe the 2500 HD has the same wight rating as the old 3500 single axle trucks. But like Go4Broke said after 2001 all 3500's are dually's. Not sure what you weigh in with the BAJA but I'm pulling 12500 lbs without any problem, w/8.1 and 4.10 gears. Tranny and Motor temps are never a problem even pulling at 80.
If you really want power though the duramax with the chip and pipe are the ticket. Went for a ride with activethunder todd in his truck and that combo makes some pretty awesome power.

Currently, the 3500s are all duallys. The 2500 has a 9200 GVW.
My GMC brochure shows a 3500 SRW that they say will be available in spring....stiffer springs in spring...

the GVWR is differenmt between the two trucks......the towing capacity is the same though...Thats the only reason my buddy Karl got the 2500 crew cab....around here if you are over 25k lbs towing combined weight you need a CDL .....well you could argue the fact the CDL Stands for COMERCIAL drivers lisence....but most cops dont care and you will end up going to court over it.
