24 foot banana boat running twin 350's with TRS drives ran in the modified class of APBA in '76 and won the Key West race against 28 and 30 footers.

The Key West race in those days went out of the harbor and turned right to Dry Tortugas and back.

Same banana boats ran twin outboards in the production classes in those days too.

Sounds like he should have used Hemi's! At least the spark plugs are on top. :D

He was trying to find some pics of it for me but I think they were lost in his shop fire some years back.

The boat had no cabin on it just reenforced stringers under the bow. The boat was built to run and we did a few poker runs but over all the boat was to small for the bay. I sold the boat to a guy in bermuda and talked to him a few days ago and he loves it. Sometimes I wish I would have not sold it!!!! Here are some pics...

How did that velocity handle with twins? What was the speed at the top end?

Here's a couple of pics of the boat my dad was talking about a couple of posts back...

This is the first 24 banana boat with the first deck in '76. The boat had twin 350's made by Stan Irwin's Custom Engine Shop in Miami.
