My wife and I are considering purchasing a home in Cape Coral Florida. It is on the river with unrestricted
accsess to the Gulf. It sounds nice and we are looking forward to are trip.
Does anyone have any info they would share on
what it is like to live in or boat in Cape Coral.
Please respond
Thanks in advance.

most of my family lives on "the cape"....nice town, growing like crazy...
the river has become almost a complete manatee zone...so getting to the gulf will take some time...
also be careful of your river access if you buy on a canal...some of them will take you 4-ever to make it to the river...not fun in the summer!!..all in all...I'd go back, if I could....
good luck!

Hugetime1 just bought a house there....
I have been through there.
The only thing I know is that you can't get a permit for a dock or boat lift there....
But that's why we make the FLOAT LIFT!

Thank you for the responses
We are leaving in two weeks to look at properties.
I am very excited about it and at the same time nervous
I have close friends in naples as well as relatives in
West palm. The prices on the East coast are out of our reach. Waterfront meaning unrestricted deep water accsess is the type of properties we are looking at.
What are the speed limits in the Manatee Zone?
What type of rents are two bedroom 2000 square feet
houses with docks going for? What time of the year
is considered in season? What is the tax rate on non resident per 1000?
Thanks again for your replys
and yes Sutphen30 Ernies is on the list.

My wife and I are in Bonita Springs during the winter and just looked at Cape Coral last Friday. Riverside Drive is right near the Yacht Club and has some very old houses. Our thought, which we ended up doing in Connecticut, was take an older home, knock it down and build a new one. The large docks are already in on some lots. On the Ft. Myers side there wasn't too much left. But Cape Coral had much more available. We're in The Brooks now, but thought we would rather have a home on the water and closer to the Gulf. Getting tired of paying fees. Check it out. Great investment. Better than any market.
