Double check plug wires to be sure not crossed, maybe timing belt is loose or jumped, not likely but who knows. Also some early ninties hondas had distributors themselves wear out, around the shaft so when it spins it throws off the spark a little, not sure if they still had that problem on 97's. Also make sure the valves are adjusted properly. just my .02, let us know

also did he replace the cap and rotor or just the rotor?

Most of the time if the igniter gos bad it won't run at all. But I have seen them run fine for a few minutes then start to run worse then cut off untill they cool off.
The other thing you want to check is coil output. When you had all the old stuff With wider gaps it had to increase the voltage to jump the gaps, now you have new stuff and the voltage wont be as high so if you have a weak coil it wont spark the plug as hot as you need. |

First check engine compression, you have to make
sure that the engine mechanical is o/k considering you have already replaced all of the secondary ignition. If it is o/k,then you have to ck injector pulse. Take the wires off the injectors and install a noid light. they all should pulse when cranking. You may have to buy,or borrow the noid light, (no,you can't use a test light):) If it is all o/k,make sure the distributor shaft isn't worn,The Hondas are notorious for bad distributers. I don't think its going to be an igniter. This usally causes a no start condition. Ck for a vacuum leak between #2 & #3 manifold runners. Hondas have had a problem with the intake gasket sucking in at that area. Good luck. I can give you any spec info you need, just P.M me. I check in at oso every night. |
