Default Valve Spring Tool

I will be changing my valve springs next month and need the tool to compress them while the heads are on the block. Who has the easiest/most effective one to use? Summit has one for about $50, does it work right? Is there someplace to rent or better yet borrow one?

thanks
Shawn

You can use a compression tester if it is the kind with the quick disconnect hose. All you need to do is remove the check valve.

Somewhere in one of my tool boxes I have a spring compresser that is used when the head is on. I don't need it anymore and if I can find it I will send it to you.

I used the one from Autozone with no problems. And can't beat the free rental price either.

The fingers didn't grab on to the inner springs, but those can be compressed easily by pushing down on the tool.
