So you feel that V hulls get a little out of shape at 100? Granted I have never ridden in a CAT (but would like to) I have been over 100 while tuning an FI turbo 38' Scarab and never felt an uneasy moment.

I was wondering the same thing. Anyone ever witnessed a bad chine walk where the boat actually flipped. I have been in a few bad ones but never felt like I was going over. But truthfully, I would rather be in a cat. Most larger cats are so much wider than V's and seem more stable at high speeds. But Outerlimits does raise the question about V's pushing on the speeds of the cats. Anyone watch or have video of can you hear me now during his record run? Was it a violent run?

Ditto! Everyone talks about the fear of a cat blowing over. However, it has only happened twice. Both times were on extremely flat water while attempting to break a speed record. When set up and operated properly, a cat will not blow over.

So only two times on this planet a cat has blown over and both times it was a controled event?:confused:

I left a lot of Variables out. I'll narrow it down Someday And follow on with a much more direct thread later.

The Cat or V Could be of any Shape or Size. (Smaller cat, smaller V, Large to Large) Keep it even.

Water ..also Your discretion. Apples to Apples. Remember a V at 120 in rough seas is on top of the water as well. (kiloKat.chinewalk-good point)

jafo. your right a lot of members have not had the actual experience of 100 mph in either style. However most a have experienced the ride in both a cat and a V and can understand and imagine the variables at the next level. So I personally would be curious to have their input.

NOTE: The next poll will be very specific directed to those who have driven both styles over 100 mph in varying conditions.

How do you figure this? The same day I ran 180+ in my race/pleasure cat in 2000, Fountain ran 140+. Approx 40mph difference. Now, with identical motors, the official cat record is 200+ and the v-bottom mark is 150+. I fail to see any push going on here.

When I grow up I want to be able to remember facts like T2x does! Very, very impressive.
Also T2x, I believe these occurred in both flat and rough conditions.

not to argue, just curious? are you saying if you come off a wave at speed and the bow comes up(we've all hit a wave wrong where you don't fly level.):rolleyes: are you saying that once an angle like that is reached it wont catch enough air to build lift/pressure to blow over, I don't know I just find it hard to believe. Any explanation would be much appreciated.
