square Kicker subs and enclosed speakers
#11
I haven’t tried the Kickers Marine subs yet, but, I'll bet they are an over priced version of the standard comps. Most speakers today will handle the worst kinds of environments. In this case the water and sun. The bigger problem with a boat has to do with placement. The best way to get the optimum sound out of subs in a boat is to direct them to a side wall or floor if possible. For example…in my ’95 Baja, I actually incorporated 2 boxes into my bench seat (that I had built from wood and fiberglass) to hold 4-10”subs firing directly at both side walls. I powered them with a JL 500.1, along with 2 other amps 4 more 8”s, and 16 mid/high speakers through out the rest of the boat, which I won’t get into. Needless to say it would defiantly make a wake with out the boat in motion.
With all of this said, If you direct your subs into the wind that’s where most of your hard earned money is going.
I think anyone that has taken these extra measures in the past will agree, that it's worth the trouble...
Good luck
