Shopping for truck tires.... got some prices...

Went to Bell Tire, Discount, and a local place down the street. These are the tires I've got prices for so far, all are 285/75-16", all are 8 ply, and all prices are mounted and out the door:

Cooper Discover A/T $548.80
Kelly SUV A/T $635.96
Fisk Phantom A/T (made by BFG) $503.10
Dunlop Rover A/T (tires I'm running now) $622.32
Nitto Terra Grappler $631.12

I also looked at some Yokahama Geolanders.... was not impressed with these that much.

I also checked at the tirerack.com. They have pretty good prices, but then I have to have them mounted and balanced.

I really need to keep it under $600 though.... money is always tight!!

Any other suggestions? I drive about 60 miles round trip every day, thru some nasty Michigan weather, and I tow about 7000 lbs all summer. And don't say BFG's, I just can't afford them.

Mike- I've never heard anyone complain about Cooper tires, most rave about them.

No doubt... go with Cooper.

What truck are they going on?

My kid has the Nittos on his 'Burban and I have them on my f350. We both love them. Good traction , handling and relatively quite. Both are 305/70R-16 Load range E 10PR. Got them from tirerack.com in two days;)

Well if you said a Dually then the best tire would have been the Michelin LTX just because the don't cup hardly at all and rotating tires on a Dually is a pain. But I still like the Michelin they just ride nice.

Tires

If you have a Sam's Club or B J's in your area, check them out. I bought a set of Michelin's from them for my Suburban last year and it was the LTX 235/75's 15" and the cost out the door was only $493.21

steet, as soon as you go to 285, the price jumps quite a bit. I checked Sams (sort of, thru a friend) and they were not much different than the prices above.

Mike,

Did you give Mitchell a call?
