I think it depends on the boat about the rooster tail. Ours blows one at lower speeds then it levels out. I have seen a 46 Skater that blew a rooster tail the whole time. He did have #6's.

Pat and I may debate hydrodynamics here and there....but there is no doubt that he and his group are among the world's best when it comes to creating power trains and thinking outside the box.

I think the lack of a huge rooster tail on a #6 is because there is a plate over the prop! If you have an egg beater with nothing over the top ... you will get a much bigger rooster tail. But the rooster tail doesn't help with the speed... just looks cool! I've seen jet drives squirt out a huge stream... didn't make the boat go any faster.
