Nick, a long long long time ago, in a land far far away, there were these four young lads from Liverpool, England who changed the course of history in music. Though originally named "the Silver Beatles", it was eventually shortend to simply, "The Beatles". This was back in the days you could actually not only hear, but understand the lyrics. You might get some info on them in a museum or the internet. They debuted in America on the Ed Sullivan show (black and white TV's, I told you this was a long time ago, back in the days of only three channels, NBC, CBS, and ABC).
