Default Testing With Throttle Up/Hydromotive

The Testing week has started!!!!!!!!!

There are lots of boats scheduled for the week.

We started with the outboard race boats on Sunday.

Scotty Adams, Super Sport (150hp bone stock, 18' canopy Mirage). This is a fun class to work with. Small, light and fast tunnel boats.

Scotty ran a Hydromotive prop prepped by Throttle Up most of last season.

When we started in the morning with Scotty he ran 69 mph with an average buoy to buoy time of 6.94 sec. By the end of the day Scotty was running an average buoy to buot time of 6.5 sec with a top speed of 77mph.

Just for fun we put a "speed" prop on and pulled of a top speed of 82 mph! He was at the point of gearcase blow-out!

After a day with Throttle Up and Hydromotive Scotty picked up 8 mph on top end speed AND shaved off .5 sec on his buoy to buoy time.

Just for the record, all the speed improvements were made with STOCK props. He will pick up more speed after we finish working the prop.

Thanks for coming out to play with us Scotty!!!

Day 2,

We got into the off shore boats today.

The line up included a 28 Eliminator w/496's, a 30 Concept w/twin Yamaha 300's and Xteme racing's F1 fountain w/HP500.

The Eliminator cam in with stock 30 Bravo 1's. It ran 88.4. The stock Hydro QIVX's got the boat to 89.6. Then we put a set of Hydro P5X's on. The boat planed out with no blow out at all with a top speed of 88. Acceleration improved substantially and midrange cruise increased 7 mph.

The P5X's basically had the same top end as the Bravo 1's with a 7 mph increase at cruise and incredible plane ability.

Are you going to be testing again today? I'll be working right near there.

The 30 Concept was a problem child. No one was able to get this boat right. The owner of the boat work's with one of out racers so he came up to see what we could do to get his boat right. It would run 65 with Mirage Plus' but it was completely out off control!!!!!!!

Todd with Hydromotive worked with the owner of this boat, Craig. By the end of the day the boat ran 68 with a pair of Quad IVX's and it was ROCK SOLID.

We have worked with the Xtreme racing team for a couple years now. They have set two Kilo records with props worked by Throttle UP. Today we wanted to work on acceleration.

We worked with the Quad 4, Quad 4X, Bravo 1, and P5X.
By the end of the day we were able to decrease the 55 to 75 times by 7 seconds with the P5X!!!!!!! The incredible thing is that the stock P5X was only 1.5 mph slower at top speed compared to Xtreme's lab finished Quad 4 while at the same time knocking off 7 seconds from 55 to 75.

Thanks to the whole Xtreme racing team for coming to St Pete to test with us.

Matt

I absolultely love my Hydromotives. I picked up 6/7 mph at cruise and 3 mph on the top end of my 311 SR-1.

Throttle-Up,
Thanks for sharing the test results.

I am curious on the cruise speed increases. You indicated on the Eliminator that you picked up 7mph over the Bravo 1. What was the prop slip with the Bravo vs the Hydro 5 blade, also what rpm was this at.

For the Xtreme, the acceleration picked up, what improvement was there at cruise speed with that setup.

Thanks,
Rick

I am still interested in trying a set. Did you guys ever get a set of 4 blade 28P available for testing? Last fall, you indicated that you may get a set.

RV,

Since the Eliminator was a pleasure boat we recorded the speed at different rpm's. Cruise picked up 7mph at 3500. Slip went from 13% to 9%. That's based on a 30 Bravo (actual pitch of 29) @ 4900rpm and a 28 P5X @ 4900rpm.

As far as the Xtreme boat I couldn't tell you what the cruise speed was. We don't record that with the race boats. These guys only run their boats at WOT and idle.

Bill R.,

We just got the 28's in from Hydromotive. There are fresh from the foundry, I think they are still a little warm. I will PM you with more details.

Matt
