The cummins 12 valve 5.9 can be found on earth moving and construction equpment also you might find some deals there too..plus rebuilding one is CHEAP even in Europe.

I found this on the web tonight and thought some of you duramax fans might like it ..myself I am a cummins guy, but here is a diesel boat

Is that the same PPE that engineers the chips/tuners for the duramax's. Any idea when they might go into production.

Check out April,'07, Pg.36 ;same motor in "IMCO" "Pet Project" hooked to a two speed trans and IMCO DRIVE. Anyone know him well enough to get the skinny on this set up? ? Like what motor LBZ LB7 LB?. Who's headers? Whats the closed cooling set up? What ECM? How LOUD with what looks like straight pipes?? Can you buy one and if so ,HOW MUCH ? ? CHEERS AW

I agree with you on this.

Question: Did you use the 6LY3-ETP (480HP) motors in your new boat, and did you modify them at all? Was not sure if/how well they could be tweaked in a marine application vs. what you can do in a truck.

I don't think that is production. The manifolds and turbine housing don't look water cooled.

If only the drives that were designed to handle that kind of torque were as inexpensive.

The Mercruiser Cummins 5.9 inboard weighes 1290 without transmission, while a Mercury Marine Horizon 496 inboard weights 1130 with Velvet Drive transmission.
