I have a listing of all 50 states towing width requirements. Flordia and maybe one other are at 9' wide max and all others fall into 8'6" or even less in some cases. Wider than that, you'll need permits. For safety reasons and permit costs, you'll probably be better off to higher someone to do it.

If it was me I would not attempt it. There are so many things that could go wrong, most of which have been mentioned so far. Plus, the stress and aggravation your going to deal with for 1300 miles won't be worth it. I wouldn't't even buy a trailer for it. I would let a marina launch it in the spring and haul it in the fall. Plus if you want to do it legally you would have to have wide load permits in every state along the way. So when you figure in all the costs involved your probably not saving that much money doing it yourself. Good luck either way.

Thanks guys. Looks like I may be off the hook as far as towing it myself. He and my wife own a few semis. He may think about getting the permits and buying a semi trailer to move and store it. Looks to me like he is going to have to figure that into the cost of his boat.
